To sayNintendohas made a lot of great games over the years is a severe understatement. It’s made some of the most impactful titles in the history of video games and influenced wider popular culture to boot. However, there’s still a lot of material for Nintendo to work with.

Despite bursting with creativity across its many games and series, Nintendo still hasn’t made quite a few games that seem like obvious winners. In some cases, fans have been asking for a specific type of game from a series foryears, and Nintendo still hasn’t caved. These Nintendo game ideas are no-brainers, but we’ve still not seen them (yet).

10A Rhythm Game With All Nintendo Music

Nintendo games have some of thebest soundtracks in video game history. From Mario and Zelda, to RPGs like Xenoblade Chronicles, Nintendo’s games are chock-full of excellent music. So why hasn’t Nintendo taken advantage of this and made a rhythm game with all the music at its disposal yet?

It could even have a co-op or online mode where you face off against other players for a high score. It seems like an easy party game for Nintendo to make and the concept appeals to its ‘gaming is for everyone’ approach, so I’m surprised it still hasn’t happened yet.

In every The Legend of Zelda game, Link is the knight and Zelda is the princess. Even in Echoes of Wisdom, where Zelda was finally the main playable character, she and Link stayed in their respective roles. Well, how about some role reversal?

I know it’s established in the universe why it’s this way, but think about it: the Link in The Wind Waker was, originally, just some guy who had to earn his right to be a hero. Why couldn’t it be some girl instead?

8A Kirby RPG

In the vein of Super Mario RPG, Kirby deserves to go on an RPG adventure. His Copy Abilities could easily be translated into attack movies, especially if used in a turn-based battle system.

Imagine fighting King Dedede in a heated battle, and then he joins your party for the rest of the journey. It’s all writing itself here. Maybe the Switch 2 will finally let Kirby off the reins and into an even bigger adventure than ever.

7Pikmin Party

Nintendo loves a good party game. We’ve already got Mario Party, so why not… Pikmin Party? You could get really creative with the minigames, drawing from Pikmin’s strategic gameplay. Who can be the fastest to direct their Pikmin across an obstacle course? That kind of thing.

While Pikmin doesn’t have the same wider appeal as Mario, it still has a big fanbase, and after waiting so long for Pikmin 4, I’m sure they’d appreciate a fun minigame-focused title.

6A Splatoon Platformer

Most of the appeal for Splatoon comes from its multiplayer campaigns, but what if you took the concept of the Inklings and Octolings and put them in a platformer, similar to Metroid? You could use weapons to shoot enemies with ink as you make progress, and the series’ vibrant art style would make for beautiful 2D environments to explore.

Nintendo has opened the door to Splatoon spin-offs with the announcement of Splatoon Raiders, so more ideas using the Splatoon IP could be in the pipeline in the future.

5A Solo Rosalina Game

We’ve had two Princess Peach-focused games now, so how about one for Rosalina? Debuting in Super Mario Galaxy, she quickly became a fan-favourite character, so it’s surprising Nintendo hasn’t used her for much yet.

Rosalina could easily go on her own adventure in space, with the Luma at her side to aid her, and perhaps some new friends as well. There’s a lot of potential just waiting to be used with her character, and with how popular she is, it only seems like a matter of time before Nintendo takes advantage of that.

While we’re at it, why not a solo Daisy game, too?

4A New Kid Icarus

Kid Icarus fans really have it rough. After the first two games in 1986 and 1991,they had to wait another 21 years, until 2012, for Kid Icarus: Uprising on the 3DS. Since then Uprising has become a bit of a cult classic, but there’s no new game in the series in sight.

Hopefully it’s not another 21 years for the next one.

Kid Icarus is now more popular than it’s ever been, with fans promoting Icarus as an underrated gem on the 3DS and Pit and Pauline being mainstays of the Super Smash Bros. games. With the power of the Switch 2, now has never been a better time to return to Pit and Pauline.

3HD-2D Pokemon

I know Pokemon is largely handled by Game Freak, but because it’s so closely intertwined with Nintendo, I’m counting it.

No matter whether we want them or not, we’ll likely be getting more Pokemon remakes in the coming years. After the disaster of Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, it’s time for the remakes to take a new approach. HD-2D.

Imagine Black & White in the style of Octopath Traveler and the Dragon Quest 3 remake. It’s practically begging to be made. If this doesn’t happen, it’s the biggest missed opportunity in the history of gaming.

2Paper Zelda

Nintendo created a truly charming and unique idea with Paper Mario. My only question is: why on Earth hasn’t ittried this concept with its other series yet? A 2D Zelda game in the style of Paper Mario seems like Nintendo should have done years ago. It could even be a Zelda subseries, like how Paper Mario is for Mario.

Now I’m just mad this hasn’t happened yet. Come on, Nintendo. Do the right thing. Make a Paper Zelda for me, please.

1Pokemon X Animal Crossing

If there’s one gaming crossover that’s more requested and dreamt of than any other, it’s Pokemon and Animal Crossing. They were just made to collaborate with each other, but somehow it still hasn’t happened yet.

An Animal Crossing game where all your villagers are Pokemon instead would just print money for years and years to come. I’m frankly baffled why this still hasn’t happened yet. It wouldn’t even have to be that good; just reskin New Horizons and people would eat it up.
