Summary
Oblivion getting the remaster treatmentalmost 20 years after its original release has not only introduced the game to an entirely new generation of players, but also has people completing very impressive challenges unlike anything achieved in the original. That includes someone completing the Whodunit portion of the Dark Brotherhood questline in less than nine seconds.
Streamer Crikenachieved the unbelievable feat and has shared the clip on Twitter (thanks,GamesRadar). Not only do they complete the quest in less than nine seconds, but they do it using only their fists, quickly, but swiftly, making their way around the house and bonking each of the five targets on the head.
Criken excitedly asks their viewers to “Time it” with them confirming that from the moment the quest is activated to the Whodunit completion message appearing on the screen, just 8.75 seconds have passed. The streamer has labeled it the murder mansion speedrun, no witnesses, fist only, any%, and I’d hazard to guess they’re the current world record holder.
It’s As Simple As That, Why Can’t You Do It Too?
The Whodunnit quest in Oblivion’s Dark Brotherhood questline requires the player to move around a house, killing five unsuspecting people and doing it without being seen if they want to complete the quest with a bonus. It will be a quest many of you have agonized over, carefully taking out each of the targets and almost certainly getting caught. Seeing someone complete it so easily, and so flawlessly, is equal parts amazing and frustrating, or maybe that’s just me.
You’d have thought that, since Oblivion Remastered is pretty much a polished version of the original game with only the visuals changed, the accomplishments and discoveries in this new version would be few and far between. A lot of us played a lot of Oblivion back in the day, achieving and finding pretty much everything the game had to offer.
That has not been the case, and just a month into the remaster’s existence, all sorts of new discoveries have been made.Someone has found, and managed to ride, a ghost horse, and players can’t decide if it’s a feature or a bug. Someone else hasalready kind of managed to finish the remaster without killing anyone. Maybe people were doing all these things in the original 20 years ago and we just didn’t have the means to share our accomplishments like we do today.
