As long as you sneak and stay out of sight, you’re able to get away with a lot, whether that bit theft or outright murder. Not only are theguards and soldiers across Cyrodiiltelepathic, but they can seemingly arrest the player through walls. If you fail to take out a target in one hit, then every guard in town will know about it, and actively try to arrest you. I had this when I took out a sleeping target in a few hits, only for my escape to be hindered by a guard pulling me into the arrest dialogue while he was standing in a different room and talking to me through a wall. Good times.

Sure, this does have the pretty funny knock-on effect of being able to get away with a bar brawl without consequence, but at least you’ll be able toget through a Dark Brotherhood questwithout running away from the guards.
Now, if you’re picking a victim toget into the Dark Brotherhood in the first place, this will certainly make life easier.
