Stardew Valleyhas 12 romancable characters that you can pursue, woo, and eventually marry. All of these characters are relatively young (20s to 30s) and aren’t in any current relationships. Aside from these 12 though, there are other NPCs in the game that you can’t pursue.
What if you could though? Admit it; the first time you saw Sandy in the desert, you wondered if you could date her. Here, we are going to take a look at some Stardew Valley NPCs that we wish we could romance. Spoiler: Some of these situations could get a bit messy, as they are already married.
8The Wizard
Wizard characters are cool, no matter what the game is. In Stardew Valley, the Wizard is the only one of his kind, and he is quite mysterious; we know his name is M. Rasmodius, but what does the ‘M actually stand for? This mysteriousness really adds to the appeal, making his addition to our list a no-brainer.
Marrying the Wizard may get messy, as it seems that the Witch is his ex-wife. If you are reallydesperate to marry the Wizard, you are in luck! This is possible in Stardew Valley Expanded, which mods the game to have way more content than the vanilla version.
7Caroline
Next up, we have Caroline. This tea-loving NPC is married, but that is not stopping us. Interestingly, there is a theory that she was with the Wizard for a time, with him being Abigail’s real father. Overall though, Caroline just needs a farmer to whisk her away.
Looking at her interests, it seems she would thrive on Ginger Island. Here, she could eat all the fish tacos and tropical curry that she wants, and then wash it down with tea made with leaves that you grow on the farm.
6Kent
Kent is not present during the entire first year of Stardew Valley, as he is at… war. What war, you ask? Honestly, we aren’t entirely sure about this, but just know thatit really affected Kent. During one cutscene, we see Kent’s PTSD in action.
We want to pursue Kent and have him move into the farmhouse, where he can live a nice and stress-free life. Sure, we may be ripping apart a family and taking the dad away from two kids, but we can help him, right?
5Sandy
Honestly, it’s a bit surprising that you can’t romance Sandy. She is a permanent fixture of the Oasis, but when you talk to her, she will mention that Emily is her friend, which ties her back to the valley. It would be natural for her to move to the valley and continue to work at the Oasis by taking the bus there every day.
When you have any level of friendship above zero with Sandy, she’ll even send you mail telling her that she is bored. So basically, she is a cute girl who wants you to keep her company. This is the recipe for romance, but somehow, it’s not possible.
4JojaMart Cashier
Within JojaMart, you’re able to find a lonely cashier who will sell you seeds and other various items. If you rebuild the Community Center and turn the old JojaMart location into a movie theater, this cashier seems to become the new employee here.
We wish there was more information about this NPC, giving her some character. As it stands, she just works for a not-so-good corporation. Imagine marrying her and taking down JojaMart together. If you choose to marry her, you could even get discounts on movies.
3Traveling Merchant
The Traveling Cart appears just two days a week, but makes frequent appearances during events, such as the Night Market in Winter. We don’t even have a portrait for her, but there is no denying that this merchant looks cool.
She seems to have short green hair that curls upward, with dangly gold earrings. Additionally, she has a unique job of traveling around to collect goods in a cart pulled by a pig. We would love a chance to date the Traveling Merchant.
2Gus
Gus may not be conventionally attractive, but he has a big heart, as well as the ability to cook delicious food. Above, you can even see a conversation during a cutscene where Gus sees Linus digging out of the trash. Instead of getting mad, he sympathizes and is willing to give Linus food for free.
Based on his interactions with other NPCs, Gus seems to keep to himself in terms of romance, giving you the perfect opportunity to slip in and pursue him. In another world, there is a romancable Gus that lets you decorate and customize the inside of the saloon.
1Robin
Last but not least, we have Robin. This is another character on our list who is married with children, but honestly, she seems a bit misunderstood. There are several moments where we see her miscommunication issues come up with Demetrius.
During the quest Robin’s Project, you’re tasked with helping her make a bed. The bed is beautiful, but Demetrius is too analytical to appreciate her hard work. Don’t worry Robin, we can appreciate your craft if you leave Demetrius and marry us.
