Summary
Expectations were low for today’s State of Play, but it turns outPlayStationhad a few, pretty exciting surprises up its sleeve. A brand new entry in theNiohseries was among them, coming next year, and best of all,you may play its demo right now.
When the trailer started, alarms were likely ringing in the heads of most Nioh fans, only for those alarms to be silenced soon after when they remembered just how much Team Ninja has on its plate right now. However, those alarms started ringing again when the Team Ninja splash screen appeared and the studio proceeded to announce, and give us our first look at,Nioh 3.
It’s been a while since the last Nioh game, with half a decade having passed since the launch ofNioh 2in 2020. Nioh 3 will introduce a new protagonist to the series, who we are shown a lot during the third game’s debut trailer. You can check it out yourself below if you missed it during the State of Play, or if you’re excited enough for more Nioh that you want to watch the trailer again, and then maybe one more time after that.
Nioh 3 Is Coming In 2026
But You Can Get Your First Taste Of It Later Today Via A Limited Time Demo
There will be two styles for players to choose from in Nioh 3. The samurai style, which players of previous Nioh games will be familiar with, and a ninja style. As you might expect, the ninja style is rooted more in agility. Your focus will be on dodging and aerial attacks rather than fighting in the more traditional samurai style.
The Nioh 3 demo doesn’t appear to be available at the time of typing this, but the devs confirmed during the State of Play that it will be dropping today so keep an eye out for it in the PlayStation Store. It was also labeled as being a limited time demo, and has been confirmed to be sticking around until Jun 15, 2025, via a post detailing more about the gameon the PlayStation Blog.
While a lot of the heavy hitters some people might have been waiting to see during today’s State of Play weren’t there, it was still a jam-packed show that went well beyond the 40 minutes PlayStation promised. Among the highlights werea first look at IO’s upcoming James Bond game, First Light, and finally confirmation that the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster is real and coming in 2026.
