Specifically, the Japanese corporation and the storefronts will “take measures to combat fraudulent listings of Nintendo products, including Nintendo Switch 2, that violate their respective terms of use, including by having the service providers proactively remove listings and by establishing a collaborative system for sharing information.”

Already, the newly announced measure has resulted in a rather unique form of action from Yahoo specifically.

Don’t You Dare Create A Listing With The Word “Switch” And Number “2”

In a follow-up shared by Genki, Yahoo’s Japanese auction sitehas revealed that it will prohibit listings for the Switch 2 not just right now, but even after the console releases next week.

Citing that the upcoming console is “highly topical” and that it may cause fraudulent listings, as well as “confusion,” listings for the piece of hardware will seemingly be “banned,“according to a machine translation of the announcement. A future announcement will notify consumers when the ban period has ended.

Unsurprisingly, it’s not the first measure taken in Japan to stop scalpers and fraudsters in their tracks. Previously,it was reported that in order to pre-order a Switch 2, consumers would need to have a store-specific credit card or those who’ve spent enough money at a retailer to qualify for its rewards programs. Even with strict measures in place,Nintendo still anticipates selling 15 million units by the end of the financial year.
