Summary

Ever sinceNintendohosted its big blowout reveal of theSwitch 2in April, a lot of concern has been placed on the new Joy-Con controllers, particularly after it was revealed that the peripherals wouldn’t have hall effect sticks, something that would go a long way in preventing stick drift,a major issue with the original Joy-Cons.

With the console officially out in the wild as of roughly 24 hours ago,one gamer took it upon themselves to tear down their Joy-Cons to assess how likely stick drift will even be. Hint: pretty likely. Now, one gamer has discovered that the company is already offering a free replacement program for the Joy-Con 2s, despite having just been released.

Who Will Be The First Unlucky Person To Have Stick Drift On The New Joy-Cons?

As first spotted by Nintendeal on Twitter, the official Nintendo repair page is offering replacements for the new Joy-Con controllers.

It’s a free replacement, though if a manufacturer defect is not found, you’ll be contacted to arrange a payment. It’s also a two-week turnaround, which isn’t that long, all things considered.

TheGamer can verify thatNintendo is indeed offering a free replacement program on its site. Beyond being able to replace the controller for stick drift, customers can also replace it for an issue with the mouse sensor, which might end up being a problem down the line for those who take advantage of the new feature.

So far, it doesn’t seem like anyone has had any reported stick drift or mouse sensor issues, though the console was just released. It’s entirely possible that Nintendo is simply getting ahead of future problems by making its repair program available. Then again, considering people already had their Switch 2 screens punctured by staples, never say never.
