Nintendohas announced that it’s raising the price of the originalNintendo Switchand its accessories in the United States due to “market conditions”, although theSwitch 2is unaffected for now.
Ever since the Nintendo Switch 2 was announced, one of thebiggest problems that Nintendo has faced is all of the uproar about its price. From the original reveal of its cost to theconfirmation that the tariffs would have an impact in the United States, there have been a lot of issues. Well, it seems that’s not specific to the Switch 2.
Earlier today,Nintendo confirmed that it’s going to be raising the price of the original Nintendo Switchand its accessories to reflect “market conditions”. The new prices haven’t been confirmed just yet, but we’ll likely find out more soon as the price change is confirmed to happen on August 3.
Nintendo is raising the price of a bunch of its products, including some Switch 2 accessories
The original Switch is being hit the hardest, though
The news of Nintendo raising the price of the “original Nintendo Switch family of systems"was announced over on the company’s official website. Nintendo says that it’s raising the price “based on market conditions” in the US. All of the original Switch models, including the OLED and Switch Lite, are going to be affected.
That’s not all, though, as Nintendo also confirmed that “certain Nintendo Switch 2 accessories” and select amiibo will be hit with the price hike as well. It’s not clear which accessories or amiibo are going to become more expensive, but it’s reasonable to assume it’ll be the newest amiibo and possibly the Switch 2 Pro Controller.
Even the Alarmo isn’t safe, as Nintendo confirmed that will “also see adjustments” to its price.
At the very least, Nintendo confirmed that pricing for the Switch 2 and its games (as well as the Switch Online membership)is going to “remain unchanged” for now. However, it does warn that price adjustments “may be necessary in the future”, so don’t hold onto too much hope about that being the case for long.
