It appears the nextLegend of Zeldais closer than many fans had believed.Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonmentis due out this Winter.

Nintendo appears to have left a small bit of information in the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment trailer that it posted on YouTube, which gives us an idea of when we’ll be playing it. As per the trailer’s description, Age of Imprisonment will launch in Winter 2025.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Is Scheduled For Winter 2025

The description of the trailer shown during the Nintendo Direct reads, “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 this winter!”. This covers a large area where the title could release, but at least narrows it down to a few months.

It’s a wonder why Nintendo didn’t just outright say this. Overon Reddit, fans are speculating on why this is.

Reddit user Chewbacca319 wonders why Nintendo would even release a trailer in the first place if the release date is so close. “I really don’t understand why Nintendo is being so secretive with the release. Boggles my mind they had a trailer for it in the partner direct, only to not give us a date when it could very well be 2-4 months from release.”

Other fans have chimed in, and everyone is equally perplexed regarding the shady release date mentioned in the description. It’s very possible that, due to theNintendo Switch 2’s turbulent launch and delays, Nintendo doesn’t want to repeat the offence on a big release date twice in one year. That all being said, all signs point to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment to break out sometime in the Winter, but when in the Winter is still unknown.

This week’s Nintendo Direct gave fans a fresh look at the Tears of the Kingdom prequel, and aside from showcasing Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment’s bleak atmosphere and who the main storyline pieces are, Nintendo confirmed Age of Imprisonment is a canonical part of the overarching story, akin to its predecessor,Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.

While the confirmation does up the stakes a bit, it makes fans more antsy about a concrete release date, considering the reveal trailer shown at the Nintendo Direct this week was lacking in that department. The only issue with the proposed release date is that Winter is three months long (although it almost always feels longer), so it’s a question mark about where exactly the title will land on release.
