Naturally, many took it to mean that a shadowdrop of the game was imminent. After all, Metroid is no stranger to randomly dropping titles,as the remaster of Metroid Prime was a day-and-date release back in 2023.
However, that was not the case, and Nintendo quickly set the record straight, telling Video Games Chronicle, “We can confirm that the ‘Out Now’ message on this advert is incorrect,” a statement read. “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition are not yet available, and are scheduled for release in 2025.”
Now, it appears that the ad has finally been corrected, and the words “Out Now” have been removed.
It’s Likely That Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Was Intended To Be A Switch 2 Launch Title
That said,it’s also entirely likely that Metroid Prime 4 was meant to be a launch title for the Switch 2. Instead, the console launched withMario Kart Worldas its marquee exclusive, with Donkey Kong Bananza set to release next month. Prime 4 is still set for release at some point this year, but it seems increasingly clear that we all should have been playing it by now.
