Nintendoran a playtest for a secretSwitchgame in 2024, a game that, unless you were one of the lucky few to play it, we still know very little about. That’s about to change for a lot of you as Nintendo has announced plans for a second playtest during which 40,000 people will be invited to try the game.
Plans for the second playtest have beenrevealed via Nintendo’s website, andyou will be able to create an application starting today at 6 pm EST. You will have until 10:59 am EST on Monday, July 21, to create your application, after which point the application process will begin.
Nintendo is running another playtest for its mysterious new Switch game
This one will include four times as many people as the one that ran last year
It will be first come, first served everywhere the playtest is taking place, other than Japan where a raffle system will be used to select successful applicants. You need to have an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscriptionto be eligible to apply, but you will just need a standard NSO subscription to take part in the test if your application is successful.
Nintendo will welcome 40,000 applicants into the playtest this time around, so four times as many as the original playtest. That’s seemingly because this time, you can apply as a group. The application doesn’t note how many people can be in your group, just that only one of you needs to begin the application process and then send the invite URL to everyone else in the group.
Nintendo notes that this is the same game it ran a playtest for last year, but since we know very little about how the game looked and played back then, it’ll be hard to tell how much has changed. The application also makes it very clear, once again, that anyone participating in the playtest cannot share anything about their experience at this time. However, with four times as many people taking part, that might be trickier to enforce.
The playtest itself will begin on July 28and run for two weeks, so a lot of time for you to play this mystery game if you manage to make it in. That’s if your playtime isn’t restricted to certain times on certain days, which hasn’t been confirmed. you may still take part in the playtest if you don’t have aNintendo Switch 2, further confirming that whatever this is, it will be a cross-gen release.
The little we do know about this game is thatit seemingly has MMO and maybe even strand elements. Some thought it was Welcome Tourwhen the glorified tech demo was revealed during the Switch 2’s first Direct. Turns out it’s something completely different, and seemingly much more elaborate.
