Although most ofNinja Gaiden: Rageboundis about swiftly killing demons and mastering your movement abilities, there are a few bits of side content to get stuck into, including collectibles like the Golden Scarabs.
Golden Scarabs are something that veteran Ninja Gaiden fans are going to get a kick out of seeing, and there are a ton of them to collect throughout the campaign. Unlike Crystal Skulls, Golden Scarabs have an important purpose to them.
Golden Scarabs, Explained
Golden Scarabs are one of the most abundant collectibles in Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, with some chapters having close to 10 for some of the longer levels. Although collecting them and ticking them off the 100 percent checklist is satisfying enough, Scarabs actually have a purpose that makes them pretty much essential.
Some of the Golden Scarabs have a blue gem in the middle of them,which indicates that they count as three Scarabs.
Once you progress far enough into Ragebound to have unlocked Muramasa’s Shop, you’ll be able to spend your Golden Scarabs on a variety of different items,including Talismans that buff (or even debuff) Kenji, a variety of different Ragebound Arts, and evenpowerful Black Spider weapons that Kumori can utilise. You’ll need a lot of Golden Scarabs to unlock everything, so it’s best you find them all - let’s start off with Act 1’s Scarabs.
1-2 Seized by Dark Forces
Golden Scarab 1
The first Golden Scarab can be found asyou enter the first house and encounter an enemy throwing cleavers for the first time. Beat him and then take the Scarab.
Golden Scarab 2
Seized by the Dark Forces' second Golden Scarab can be foundafter you reach the house following a meteor shower. Just jump up when you reach the next house.
Golden Scarab 3
The third and final Golden Scarab of this level can be found as you’re climbing up a burning house later in the level. It’s hard to miss,but it’s right next to the demon throwing cleavers as you climb up the house.
1-3 After the Demons!
The first Golden Scarab is found early on in the level,just after you’ve climbed up a tree and found two burning pots. The Scarab is above some spikes,so hang off the bottom of the platform and grab it.
The second Golden Scarab is found as you ascend a cave and reach a checkpoint.It’s impossible to miss since it’s just to the right of the checkpoint by a statue.
Very shortly after you found the second Golden Scarab, you’ll cross a broken bridge and come into a forest.The third Golden Scarab (which actually counts as three) can be found underneath the first platform.
