Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster Revealed At State Of Play
The trailer gives us a look at how the remaster will play, with its new visuals, but also “adjustments to the story”. We’ll have to wait and see what exactly is meant by this, but if you’d rather experience Final Fantasy Tactics as it was back in the day, the classic version is included too. The classic version will use the translation from The War of the Lions' re-release of Tactics in 2007.
The Ivalice Chronicles also gives us voice acting in both English and Japanese. The English cast has been confirmed by Square Enix, with Briana White - who plays Aerith in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series - revealing that she has a cameo.
Final Fantasy Tactics is a cult classic, with many fans swearing by the old 1997 release. However, despite this dedicated following, it’s never been shown much love. After the first game, we received a few more releases, but the most recent one, Final Fantasy Tactics S, was exclusive to mobile. So, today’s announcement will certainly make many fans happy.
Those of you who have never picked up one of the Tactics games before might be wondering what all of this is about. Well, as the name suggests, these games are tactical-roleplaying games, differentiating from the mainline entries. Much like other Final Fantasy games, it also has its own story, which was heavily praised at the time.
Many have been calling for another Final Fantasy Tactics game, including Ben Starr, who played Clive inFinal Fantasy 16.Last year, he told us that it’s “time for Tactics”, a sentiment that we often see in the community - andeven from Yoshi-P himself. It seems that Square Enix has finally heard everyone’s cries, as it blows the dust off this once-abandoned subseries within the main franchise.
