Summary

Magic: The Gathering’sbigFinal Fantasycrossover is almost here, and we already knowit’s jam-packed with references to characters and iconic momentsin the series, and even potentially teasers for what’s yet to come. Right now, cards are being revealed gradually, whether it be via official reveals,or Ben Starr’s clothes, and we recently got to see some new cards from the Final Fantasy 10-themed Commander deck.

It’s a game that holds a special in the hearts of many Final Fantasy fans, and there are plenty of moments that Wizards of the Coast could have chosen from to encapsulate in card form. There’s the opening, in which Zanarkand is attacked by Sin, the intimate moment between Yuna and Tidus, or the chaotic raid on Bevelle to stop Seymour’s wedding.

MTG’s Final Fantasy 10 Commander Deck References Tidus and Yuna’s Laughing Scene

HAHAHAHAHA

What you probably didn’t expect was for Wizards of the Coast to commemorate one of the game’s more infamous moments, and if you even have a passing familiarity with Final Fantasy 10, you probably know the one we’re talking about. Yes, the Final Fantasy 10 Commander deck has a card which pays tribute to that horrible, cringey laughing scene between Yuna and Tidus.

The card itself is a relatively simple reprint of the existing MTG card Inspiring Call, but both its art and flavour text reference the moment in which Yuna and Tidus laugh like maniacs before they head out on their journey to stop Sin. The art has both of them in a mid-laugh pose, while the flavour text is literally just “Hahahahaha”. A very silly card for a very silly moment, so I guess Wizards is doing the game justice.

If you want to add this infamous moment to your collection, you’ll need to grab the Final Fantasy 10 Commander deck, which is set to release on June 13 alongside Commander decks based on Final Fantasy 6, 7, and 14. Pre-orders are open now, though you might struggle to find them at MSRP right now, given they’re a month away. Happy hunting!
