Earlier this year, Digital Eclipse confirmed thatits next big project is the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. A collection of games that will bring all versions of the original fourMortal Kombatgames under one roof on modern platforms, and now we know that the collection is getting a physical release, complete with a $150 Kollector’s Edition.

Digital Eclipse specializes in bringing retro games to modern consoles, including the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cowabunga Collection, but Mortal Kombat’s Legacy Kollection may well be the studio’s biggest project to date. It’s also important, considering the retro nature of the project and its target audience, that the collection be released physically as well as digitally.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection’s physical edition comes to all major platforms this December

The Kollection’s devs confirmed today that there will be three editions of the physical release to choose from - standard, deluxe, and the aforementioned Kollector’s Edition. The standard edition starts from $49.99, the deluxe edition comes with a few extras and costs between $69.99 and $79.99, and the Kollector’s Edition includes a lot of extras and costs $149.99.

Among those Kollector’s Edition extras is something that should be included as standard with any expensive collector’s edition of a video game - a statue. This statue is a little different from others you might have received with a video game, as it has a secondary function beyond just looking good. The statue is modeled after Goro, the fighting game icon has four arms, and two of his statue’s arms are positioned so that they can hold your controller while it’s not being used to lay waste to people in the first four Mortal Kombat games.

The Kollector’s Edition also comes with an arcade token, a set of pins, and a hardcover book depicting various artwork and Mortal Kombat lore.

Digital Eclipse also promised that there were more games to reveal that will be a part of the Legacy Kollection, and another of those games has been revealed today. Joining the original four MK games in the collection is Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Trilogy united the first three games' rosters under one roof for the first time, and if you’re at Evo this weekend, you can be among the first to get hands-on with Trilogy via the Legacy Kollection at theAtaribooth.
