Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection wasrevealed at PlayStation’s State of Play. This will make all of the classic games and many of the handheld releases available on modern platforms, and will even include a documentary about the making of the series.
However, there’s something else in the reveal trailer that has fans very excited - an appearance from John Tobias. Tobias co-created theMortal Kombatseries alongside Ed Boon, but left in 1999. Since then, he’s had little to no involvement with the series, outside of a couple of credits. Now, some fans are hoping that his involvement with the Legacy Kollection is a sign of things to come.

“I think this is a bigger deal than most people realise,“saysReddit user ComprehensiveEye761. “While it’s no secret that John and Ed have remained close over the years, seeing John physically present at [NetherRealm Studios], and in an official capacity tied to this release, isn’t something that should be casually dismissed.”
They go on to say that they hope this means that Tobias will be brought back to work on the series' lore going forward, making it more in line with what we got earlier in the series.
Others feel much the same, with fans over on Twitter hoping that this collection will lead to the co-creators of the series working together again.
Tobias was credited as a writer on Mortal Kombat mobile, but we’ve had nothing else since then. He also worked on a comic book for Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.
