Earlier this month, Remedy Entertainment expanded on its connected survivor horror world with theLeft 4 Dead-style co-op shooterFBC: Firebreak, but it hasn’t been the runaway success that the studio was no doubt hoping for.

Opening to ‘Mixed’ reviews on Steam, it’s already being outpaced by Call of Duty 2,Back 4 Blood, and even Half-Life 2: Deathmatch witha 24-hour peak of just 245 players. Granted, the game launched on PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass, but so didRematch, which hit much higher figures. It’s hardly a promising sign.

Where Does FBC: Firebreak Rank Among Remedy’s Other Games?

FBC: Firebreak’s player count places it at 1,854 in the Steam charts. For comparison,Control, the single-player game it spins off from — which launched in 2019 — is ranked 1,082 with a 24-hour peak of 608 players.

With a $40 price tag and notoriously little to do, it’s not surprising that FBC: Firebreak isn’t performing well.As our reviewer Eric Switzer said, the game “is neat, but it will only take a night or two to see everything it has to offer”. Even then, its all-time peak is lacklustre compared to Remedy’s more recent work:

While it only has around 80 players at the time of writing, thankfully, FBC: Firebreak supports cross-platform play. So, if you decide to pick it up on Steam to see what all the hubbub is about, you should be able to find a game with those on PlayStation and Xbox.

However, there are reports on the Steam Forums of matchmaking issues, withplayers decrying that they “can’t find a game on any mode”. It’s unclear if this is because FBC: Firebreak is suffering similarly low player counts across the board, or if it’s a wider matchmaking issue.
