In a rather interesting twist, the next game fromOri and the Blind Forestdeveloper,Moon Studios,No Rest for the Wicked, could be skipping theXboxplatform altogether. Instead, it appears that the game, which is currently in Early AccessonPC, could be prioritizing thePlayStation 5for its worldwide launch.
Initially, in a post on Discord, Thomas Mahler, Moon Studios' CEO, stated that “given current market conditions” the game might only release on PS5 and “potentially” Switch 2.
“We’ll have to discuss things with MS to see what makes sense for Xbox,” Mahler wrote.
However, just as quickly as the post went viral, Mahler took to his personal Twitter account to walk back those statements and also provide clarity to the situation his studio is in.
The PS5 Apparently Makes The Most Sense To The Studio
While Mahler wouldn’t outright confirm whether the post on Discord was indicative of final plans, he did note that “PS5 makes the most sense at the moment.” Additionally, he also said that even without an initial release on Xbox, there still is a plan to ship on “all” platforms.
In a separate reply, Mahler noted that the resources needed to make multiple console ports are significant, and with the studio being “indie,” they must do what makes the most sense for them.
“Moon is about quality above all, so if we do something, we want to take the time to do it right,“Mahler wrote.
Right now, it’s unclear when the game will make its full launch. But it’s worth noting thatthe game was confirmed for the Xbox back in March, making this week’s developments all the more confusing.
