Unfortunately, as expected,MindsEyeis off to a pretty rough start. A lack of reviews ahead of its launch, coupled with higher-ups leaving the studio with days to go until release, had people worried MindsEye might have issues. Now it’s finally here, and it has taken a single day for some of its players to start asking for refunds.

While most players issued refunds haven’t shared the platform on which they’ve been playing MindsEye, it’s the ones who are claiming they’re getting their money back onPlayStation, and sharing the evidence to prove it, that will be the most concerning for the game’s devs. PlayStation has a very strict refund policy that’s usually pretty difficult to take advantage of.

The only big game in recent memory that has had PlayStation offering refunds to anyone who requests them isCyberpunk 2077. Even thoughPlayStation’s support pagemakes it clear that you are not eligible for a refund if you have downloaded and played a game, anyone who requested a refund for Cyberpunk during its rocky launch period was issued one.

MindsEye Is Off To A Rough Start

Think Cyberpunk Circa 2020

What’s worrying for MindsEye is that shortly after PlayStation issued Cyberpunk refunds,it removed the CDPR game from its store for six months. An unprecedented move that, against all odds, Cyberpunk has managed to bounce back from. MindsEye hasn’t been delisted yet, but evidence that refunds are being issued is starting to appear.

MasterOfMoogles1995shared evidence of their refund onthe MindsEye subreddit. The player highlights the promises of 60fps and MindsEye being pro-enhanced not being fulfilled. PlayStation writes back that “the situation is under investigation”, but rather than leaving it there, the representative goes ahead with the refund, confirming it’s MindsEye that the player wants to return.

Unfortunately for MindsEye, this isn’t an isolated incident. A second player, who goes byWolfgangMishima, has shared evidence of a PlayStation refund for the game. In their example, the PlayStation employee notes that it doesn’t usually issue refunds for a game once it has been downloaded, but in this instance, due to the troubleshooting suggestions falling flat, the refund will be granted.

There are more examples of players requesting, and being granted, refunds for MindsEye starting to accumulate on social media, most without the platform attached. They’re likely playing onSteam, where it’s easier to get a refund on a game, even if you have played it. That said, there have beenaccusations that devs loaded up the beginning of MindsEye with cutscenesso that players don’t experience much gameplay until they’re past the two-hour refund point.
