With things surroundingMindsEye, the debut game from ex-Rockstar Games executive Leslie Benzies, seemingly getting worse by the minute, the game has now found itself in the clearance bin literal days after its launch.
As first shared on Reddit by a U.S.-based gamer, they managed to spot MindsEye for $20 at Walmart, down from its original $59.99 price. It’s unclear if other Walmart stores have similarly followed suit, but it is clear that the game is brand-new and sealed and not some buyers' remorse return.
“I picked it up,” they revealed. “I was like, ‘For $20 I’ll take a swing.'”
So far,the game hasn’t been recalled like Concord, but if it does, then that persondoes have a nice collector’s item that could be worth something.
When In Doubt, Clearance It Out
Oddly enough, this wouldn’t be the first time that Walmart moved to quickly clearance a game that had a disastrous launch. Some gamers may recall that back in 2020,Cyberpunk 2077 was also similarly being put on clearance after its rather horrendous launch.
A Reddit post from five years ago shows that Cyberpunk was being sold as low as $37.46. Granted, some of the copies were likely the returned ones, but the point largely still stands. Meijer, another U.S. retailer, similarly had even cheaper copies of Cyberpunk, according to one user.
That isn’t the only similarity that MindsEye has with Cyberpunk,as in a rather stunning move, refunds were also being issued on PlayStation, something that almost rarely happens.
For its part, the MindsEye team said in a social media statement that it was “heartbroken” over the game’s broken launch, before affirming a commitment to improving the game via scheduled patchesso that all players can enjoy an “equally high-quality experience.”
