Summary
Back in 2022,Shovel Knightdeveloper Yacht Club Games launched a Kickstarter campaign for its new game, Mina the Hollower. And now, after three years, it finally has a release date — October 31.
You can wishlist the game now, but there’s currently no price tag.
Mina the Hollower is draped in old-school, Game Boy Colour-inspired 8-bit vibes, as it follows the titular heroine on a mission to “rescue a cursed island”. Not only do we know when it’s coming, but a new trailer was even shown off at Summer Game Fest, giving us a better look at this retro gem in action.
You Can Play It Right Now
You don’t have to wait until Halloween to give it a try, though. Yacht Club Gameswas kind enough to launch a demoon Steam to coincide with the announcement of the release date. It’s available until June 16, and includes the entirety of the opening level, as well as the first major boss fight. So, you don’t have long to sink your teeth into the gorgeous pixel art, but progress does at least carry over into the full release.
Descend into the depths of madness with a bone-chilling, yet heartwarming tale inspired by Victorian Gothic horror.
Mina the Hollower is only confirmed for PC, but with Shovel Knight’s ever-enduring popularity, which saw it burrow into every single current-gen console, we’ll no doubt see Mina do the same in future. But you won’t need a high-end rig to give the game a try, as you could have probably guessed (and hey, it looks likeperfectSteam Deck fodder).
So long as you have at least a 2nd Generation Intel Core graphics card, with 512MB of memory, which I guarantee if you have a PC, youdo, then you may run it. So, get out that beaten-up laptop and download the demo.
