TheMetroid Prime 4: Beyondsagamayfinally be coming to a close. The game wasrevealed all the way back in 2017, over eight years ago, but a tumultuous development cycle meantit was rebooted in 2019, with Retro Studios taking charge. It then went radio silent for five years, before beingrevealed in its current format in June last year. At that point, Nintendo confirmed the game was scheduled for release in 2025.
However, outside of a few brief Direct appearances and arandom advert in the London Underground, news has been pretty sparse. With less than four months of the year left, we still don’t even have a release date.
Hopefully, that may be about to change, though, as Nintendo has just revealed that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be playable later this month, but only if you live in Canada.
Metroid Prime 4 Will Be Playable At Fan Expo Canada
Fan Expo Canadatakes place at the Metro Convention Centre in Toronto between August 21-24 this year. It’s set to feature tons of celebrity appearances, including Michael J. Fox, Ewan McGregor, William Shatner, and Mike Tyson, alongside a very rare showing for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
In an officialpress release, Nintendo said, “Bring your friends and family to experience games likeMario Kart World, and the newly releasedDonkey Kong Bananza. Fan Expo attendees will be able to play upcoming games like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (available later in 2025).”

Alongside Prime 4, players will get to go hands-on with the Switch 2 versions ofHades 2,Borderlands 4, andElden Ring Tarnished Edition. There’s a lot for players to get excited about.
Following some worrying rumors, it’s also great to see that Nintendo has reaffirmed the game is still set to come out this year.
This is the second time Metroid Prime 4 will be playable, following its demo during the Nintendo Switch 2’s Experience Tour that took place ahead of the console’s launch. Interestingly, however, Nintendo has made no comment as to whether the game will be playable at Gamescom, with Europe’s biggest gaming convention just around the corner.
