Marvel Mystic Mayhemis a team-based strategy game where the abilities and types of your characters drastically impact how your team performs. As standard, you want to have a core team of a Defender, Controller, and a Striker character, but different modes - like Memento or Battle Bonanza - will require different team set-ups.
The type and quality of characters you pull from your free banners will also impact how you want to build your team. We’ll cover a couple of core builds in this guide, including the best free-to-play team composition for the early game in Mystic Mayhem.
Best Free-To-Play Team Composition For Marvel Mystic Mayhem
It’s actually quite easy to put together a strong team very early on. This team is acompletebeginner team. You can make changes to this as you progress through the game, adding in any better characters you unlock or roll for.
This team usesHulk,Sleepwalker, andLady Bullseye.
Hulk - Defender
Hulk is a great free-to-play tank character. HisGamma Quakeheal allows you to sustain yourself through lots of damage, and he can hold the line against a lot of enemies.
Hulk is available for free right from the start of the game, and he’ll likely carry you through most of the early content.
Sleepwalker - Controller
Another excellent early game controller, Sleepwalker is alsoavailable for free.HisRejuvenationhealing will keep your Hulk extra-healthy while he’s tanking all the damage for you.
Sleepwalker also has a passive health regen ability(Healing Sleep)which will heal your lowest health ally over time.
Lady Bullseye - Striker
Until you get some better characters, Lady Bullseye is a very capable Striker character. She has some fun buff mechanics that revolve around going temporarily invisible and then dealing lots of damage with herKatana Slashability.
This is an excellent foundation to build on. Progressing in Mystic Mayhem is then aboutmaking decisions about character upgradesandchanging certain pieces in your compositiondepending on the content you’re doing.
Alternative Free-To-Play Team Composition
This is for when you’ve started to collect a few new heroes from unlocking them via story mode or via banner pulls.
Psylocke
Psylocke is a decent Fighter that you’ll unlock easily at the start of the game. She’s able to dash around the battlefield and take care of high-priority targets, enemies that might buff their allies or spawn extra minions.
She makes use of herTelekinetic Bladedash ability to close the gap and then her powerful ultimate,Butterfly Dream, to deal damage around her.
Armor
Armor is a fantastic Defender who is very easy to get - you’ll pick her up from free pulls or by completing missions - and can Taunt and Stun your enemies. If you want a more tanky frontliner, pick up Armor instead of Hulk.
We definitely recommend Armor as a very strong pick for an early Defender character. She can be used in multiple different team compositions.
Misty Knight
Misty Knight is a very capable free Striker character you’ll earn just from playing the game. She’s able to quickly stack her Ultimate ability by applyingBounty HunterandBail Mark- make sure to target enemies that Misty Knight is already attack.
She can later be replaced with other more powerful Strikers, like Scarlet Witch, but until then, she’s surprisingly strong!
Best Meta Banner Team
This is largely dependent on who you manage to pull from your free banner pulls.
An ideal set-up might look like:
Scarlet Witch
Scarlet Witch is a three-star character and currently one of the best Strikers in the game. She can deal a huge amount of damage by buffing her crit rate(Call of Chthon)and then using her Ultimate ability(Reality Warp)to shred enemies in an AoE.
She has very low defense and HP, so you need a strong defender - like Armor, in this case - to protect her. Hulk would also work in this situation if you need more damage and healing.
Emma Frost
Emma Frost is a great Controller character, also a three-star. She can be replaced with Sleepwalker if you don’t pull her from your free banners.
Frost provides great healing with herMind Flayerability, but it’s really her passive -Mind Link- that we’re after here, as it boosts special damage, increasing the damage Scarlet Witch does with her Ultimate.
