Summary
Now that hype for A Minecraft Movie is winding down withthe hit film available to watch on various streaming platforms, its promotional toys have left McDonald’s. However, their Happy Meal replacements are something equally as popular, albeit with a largely different group of fans -Squishmallows.
That’s right,Minecrafttoys are out, Squishmallows are in, marking the first time the tiny Happy Meal versions of the hugely popular toys have been available at McDonald’s since 2023. McDonald’s shared the good newsvia its USA Menu Spotter- although the plushes do appear to be available in other regions - revealingthere are 12 Squishmallows to collect.
Most of the mini McDonald’s Squishmallows are smaller versions of full-size characters synonymous with the product line. However, there’s one in there,Halley the Intergalactic Axolotl, that’s making its debut. I’m sure we’ll see a regular Squishmallow version of Halley in the future, but for now, she’s a McDonald’s Happy Meal exclusive.
Little Squishmallows Are Back At McDonald’s
Somehow, Scalpers Already Have All Of Them And Are Selling Them On eBay
Even though the announcement that Squishmallows have returned to McDonald’s was made mere hours ago, there are alreadymultiple listings for the full collection on eBay.The going rate for all 12 Squishmallows appears to be around $50. On the one hand, probably less than you’ll spend on Happy Meals trying to collect them all. On the other, you’re not getting the food along with them, nor the thrill of finding the ones you like most, and then the ones you need as you fill out your collection.
Scalpers already have those collectors in mind too. There are also listings on eBay for individual Happy Meal Squishmallows, each of them with a price of $15 attached. That’s pretty steep, not only because the Squishmallows are technically free with your meal, but also because you could buy a much larger non-McDonald’s Squishmallow for that price.
As for how people have managed to get their hands on all 12 Squishmallows on the first day of them being available, it’s probably a case of people who work at McDonald’s giving them to someone, or maybe even the employees themselves selling them on. Seems like an odd risk to take for the sake of $50, although maybe they plan on selling loads of them.
On the wider Squishmallows horizon,Pokemonhas revealed what its next two additions are going to be -Torchic, and a Smiling Pikachu. Yes, for those keeping count, that does make three Pikachu Squishmallows so far.Jazwares also revealed some new Star Wars Squishmallowsto celebrate May 4. Who’d have thought it possible to make Darth Vader soft, squishy, and adorable?
