Summary
Marvel Rivals Season 2.5is almost upon us, which means it’s time for NetEase to start gradually revealing some of the big changes that are on the way. We know that Ultron is being added to the roster, which will give us a much-needed flying strategist, but NetEase has now revealed it’snerfing some of the game’s more annoying heroes, and has shown off some team-up ability additions coming next week.
In a new video shared on the Marvel Rivals YouTube channel, lead game designer Zhiyong revealed exactly which team-ups are being added, which ones are being tweaked, and which ones are being straight up removed. For example, you might want to check in on your Spider-Man main friends, as his team-up with Venom is getting axed, while Iron Man has been removed from the Gamma team-up with Hulk.
More importantly, a bunch of new team-up abilities are being added for characters like Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Ultron, while Jeff and Peni Parker have two new team-ups so absurd that you’re probably going to see a lot more of them next season.
Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Will Add The Community-Requested Jeffnado Team-Up
We’ll start with the main event, and that’s Jeff’s team-up with Storm. Ever since NetEase allowed Storm’s ultimate to interact with other Ultimates, fans have joked about a team-up with Jeff to create a “Jeff-nado” that would be equal parts devastating and adorable. Well, turns out NetEase liked the idea, and have decided to add it to the game.
Starting in Season 2.5, if Storm and Jeff use their Ultimates at the same time, Jeff will be thrown into Storm’s tornado and devour enemies that are caught in the winds, before being thrown out at the end. Absolutely terrifying.
Peni Parker is also a hero that could go from harmless to a sheer menace, if she gets her new team-up with Rocket Raccoon. When both are on the field, Peni is able to place two nests that shoot out spider-bombs and armor packs, though the radius of the second is smaller. On top of that, Rocket’s reviving beacon will now also have a nest attached to it, but it can’t be active at the same time as Peni’s second nest.
That means Peni will now be able to cover even more space with her webs, and give Rocket’s revival beacon a little extra protection. Combine that with Peni’s Ultimate, and the entire battlefield could be covered with webs before you know it. Hopefully, it’ll make Peni a little more viable in Season 2.5, especially with how popular Rocket is after his rework.
