Marvel Rivalshas finallydropped its first batch of swimsuit skins- with Loki, The Thing, Psylocke, Luna Snow, and Thor all in their beach-ready fits - but these characters aren’t the only ones that have been heating up recently.

Luna Snow, The Thing, and Thor’s swimsuit skins have all been made available as part of the game’s new Summer Special event, which acts as a mini battle bass similar to the Combat Chest from last season. It contains a total of 21 rewards of varying quality and is a standalone purchase, but the majority of Marvel Rivals players seem to be pretty peeved at the pricing.

Marvel Rivals Players Are Furious Over Summer Special Event Price

If you want the premium version of the Summer Special pass, you’ll need to cough up 990 Lattice, which is the game’s paid currency and will set you back around £8 or $10. One of the biggest points of contention surrounding this is that it’s essentially the same price as a full-blown battle pass, which contains 10 skins and actually gives you Lattice back.

Secondly, 990 Lattice is far more expensive than the previous Combat Chest, which only set back players 660 Lattice. That’s an almost 45 percent increase on the last one, and as many people are pointing out, the Summer Special event contains fewer rewards than the Combat Chest, so you’re essentially spending more money on less content.

The reactions from most Marvel Rivals players have been either disappointment or anger,as showcased in the Reddit post by user Jsix8 above. That thread is filled with people claiming they might not actually get the skins they want now, claiming it’s “not worth it” compared to the game’s standard battle pass.

A user called Anirbandt has accused NetEase of “milking the best skins”, knowing full well that people will be clamoring for the pass thanks to Luna Snow’s swimsuit, while another called Longjumping_Brain945 is now concerned about “the way microtransactions are heading” in Marvel Rivals. It’s an understandable concern, especially since things seem to be getting more expensive across the board.

Hopefully, this is just NetEase being a bit greedy, knowing that people will pay top dollar for a cheeked-up Luna Snow. It could also be NetEase testing the waters a bit, seeing how much they can get away with charging for these mini passes, so let’s hope this backlash convinces them to drop the price for the next one.
