Marvel Rivalshad a massively successful launch, witha player count that just wouldn’t budgethroughout Season 0 and Season 1.
Then, Season 2 dropped, and the cracks started to show. The meta made pretty much everyone unhappy, and even after some changes, players aren’t pleased with the state of the game. It’s enough to make the game drop to “mixed” reviews on Steam, and the negativity shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
Marvel Rivals Season 2 Has Been A Mess, Drops To Mixed Reviews
If you check out the recent reviews, the most common complaints are about the character balancing and matchmaking. As I’m sure any Marvel Rivals player will tell you, that last point is quite a big problem in the game, as it seems rare that teams that are pitted against one another are of equal skill.
As for balancing, that’s been a problem since Season 2 started. Whether it’s healers complaining about being dived, tanks finding the gameplay boring, or pretty mucheveryone annoyed with all of the flying characters, it’s hard to find any group of players in Marvel Rivals who are happy with the state of the game right now.
If you check out the data onSteamDB, it paints a pretty dire picture. From here, we can see thatthe mid-season updatebrought in almost as many negative reviews as positive reviews, making it the worst-received patch yet. Since then, even more negative scores have come in, so players definitely aren’t happy with the state of Marvel Rivals as it stands.
With any luck, Season 3 will manage to win over its frustrated fanbase once more. That is set to kick off on July 11 and will run for two months, not the usual three. This will be the same for all new seasons going forward so this might be proof of NetEase hearing the concerns for the playerbase.
