Alternate skins for your favourite heroes and villains is probably the best thing aboutMarvel Rivals; other than the gameplay, of course. With a near-unlimited pool of characters to choose from, the devs have promised to throw out new characters and costumes at a blistering pace. And, to top it all off, the microtransactions aren’t as predatory as those of some other games.
The latest battle pass sees the roster divided into two, with one side getting a Symbiote makeover, while the other gets Phoenix-based costumes. While it’s pretty cool to see these iconic characters Venomised no one could have predicted what NetEase had in store for Squirrel Girl.
Watch Out For That Tail
The Marvel Rivals community is pretty thrilled with the new Power of the Phoenix battle pass. While players were admiring the new Venomised skins,especially the one for Spidey, many were shocked to find out how Squirrel Girl’s new outfit has been designed. While it looks cute from the front, with the Venomised ears and even her per squirrel covered in the Symbiote, many wondered where the mouth was.
For whatever reason, the devs decided that the giant, teethy mouth that we usually associate with the antihero was on her giant squirrel tail. Turning the character around in the menu will reveal that the usually bush and cute tail of the hero now boasts a giant venom mouth, and players aren’t sure how they feel about it.
A Reddit post byKirbykoopaperfectly illustrates that reaction of the community. While referring to a previous post about why the female characters don’t have a Venom-mouth in their Symbiote skins, they realised that Squirrel Girl’s was on her tail. It certainly looks the part, but even I’m not sure how I feel about it.
“I read another comment on another post saying the tail had a mouth, and I was like oh cool. I was not prepared to see that second image,” said one of the comments. Others suggested that it was definitely weird, but it somehow worked in the spirit of the game and the character herself. “Now I understand why that Squirrel Girl skin is a legendary. Goddamn,” said another.
