The backlash and negativity towardsMario Kart World’s recent controversial update have been so overwhelming that the game’s subreddit is now banning “low-effort” negative posts about it.
As I’m sure you know by now, Mario Kart World recently had an update thatprobably seemed minor to Nintendo but has sent the game’s players into an absolute frenzy. The update adjusted course selection when choosing random, which basicallymade it a ton harder to get traditional races in actual tracks instead of the connecting courses.
Mario Kart World’s implementation of these connecting tracks as actual laps in a racehas been divisive since the game launched, but most players just chose Random when playing online since it gave more chances of a proper race. That’s not really the case anymore, which has resulted in review bombs and awholelot of complaining.
“We Get It”
One of the main lightning rods forall of the negativity surrounding the recent update is the Mario Kart World subreddit, which has over 17,000 members as of the time of writing. The subreddit has been filled with posts about the update that all say pretty much the same thing about how bad it is.
In response to this, the subreddit’s moderators have decided to push the big red ban button on negativity posts. In a statement shared on the Mario Kart World subreddit, moderator michael14375 confirmed that the mod team has decided to ban negativity posts about the recent update due to a “flood” of “ranting and low-effort posts”.
The mod team have decided on this due to flood of ranting and low-effort posts about the update that made 3 lap tracks harder to select online. We get it, the update sucks and we agree. - michael14375
All of the negativity in the subreddit has apparently even caused some members to leave due to the “toxic nature and rudeness” of people in the comments regarding the update. All of this has led to an indefinite ban for posts complaining about the most recent update, which is fair considering how bloated it had gotten.
That being said, michael14375 notes that the mods don’t want players to feel like they’ve been “silenced or censored”,which is why they’re leaving a thread specifically about the update running. If you really can’t imagine just waiting until Nintendo confirms it messed up, that might be the place to channel your energy.
