Mario Kart World PSA: You Can Use Walls To Completely Avoid Red Shells
Thankfully, there is a way to avoid a red shell that doesn’t get rid of your defensive items.A Twitter user called Mankalorexplained the “wall dodging” method in a post this weekend, which is something you could do in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to avoid having a red shell taking away any protective item you had stashed away.
As Mankalor explains, if someone targets you with a red shell while you have an item dangling off your rear, the red shell will target the item rather than you. That means you can drag your item along the side of a wall, and when the red shell goes to strike it, it will actually hit the wall, and you’ll completely avoid it, and any green shells or bananas you had will remain intact.
Of course, you’ll actually need a wall to perform this trick, but Mankalor showcases in their video that it will even work when you drag your item against roadside barriers, so this is a possible strategy even in something more open like Knockout Tour. Hopefully, with this knowledge, you’ll actually get pelted by red shells a lot less and bag some more wins. I could definitely use the help, that’s for sure.
