Summary
Mario Kart Worldhas only been out for a few days, but players have already found an incredibly broken and cheeky way to completely avoid being hit by Blue Shells.
As I’m sure everyone taking a break from playing theirNintendo Switch 2to read this is aware of, we’re finally in anew era of Mario Kart after being stuck with Mario Kart 8 Deluxefor the past decade.Mario KartWorld is a big step for the series, and introduces a ton ofnew mechanics and features to the familiar formula.
That being said, World is also full of exactly what you’d expect from Mario Kart, including the return of the infamous first-place ruining Blue Shells. While there has always been a neat way tododge Blue Shells if you’re lucky enough to be holding a Mushroom, clever players have now figured out an even easier way to dodge that requires no effort at all.
Mario Kart World’s New Rewind Feature Is A Little Busted
You Can’t Ruin Online Races, Though
As pointed out by Twitter user Armr1245 and many, manyothers, the new dodging technique is tied to Mario Kart World’s interesting new Rewind feature, which letsplayers press a single button and start going back in time while the rest of the races keep moving. It’s a neat new mechanic for perfectionists who want to master each track, but it’s also perfect for casual players.
Since time only rewinds for you when the Rewind feature is used, that means you may cleverly use it to completely avoid being hit by items coming your way. The best example of this is the Blue Shell, as there are a ton ofclips making the rounds online of players using Rewind to avoid being hitand shave some seconds off the recovery time that’s usually there.
You’ll still need some decent timing to avoid the blast, but it’s much easier than using a Mushroom or praying for a Super Horn.
While it’s completely up to the player whether they use the technique or not, it’s a little busted to be honest and kind of takes away from the danger of Blue Shells, Lightning, and so many other items. If you’re terrified of what that makes online modes look like, don’t be, as Rewind is exclusive to single-player modes like Grand Prix.
Still, if you’re struggling to get Gold on 150cc matches, you now have a very easy way of completely avoiding being kicked out of first place. Blue Shells have had it coming for a long while, honestly.
