Mario Kart Worldis a pretty great game, butNintendohas been doing its utmost best to try and sabotage it at almost every turn. For starters, it’s just implemented an extremely unpopular update,one which Mario Kart fans say has killed the game completely, while Nintendo also managed to annoy everyone before release by being the first company to release an $80 game.
Every time Nintendo showed off Mario Kart World online before launch, it was met witha flurry of demands from fans asking for the price to be dropped, but Nintendo stood firm and now Mario Kart World is officially our first $80 game. It was expected that the new price would reflect the quality of the game, but not even a month from launch, a lot of Mario Kart fans don’t think this is the case.
Mario Kart World Fans Think It Isn’t Worth $80 Any More
Following Nintendo’s controversial update, many Mario Kart fans have been speaking out on social media about the game’s quality. For example,a Twitter user called Pory_leekshad a tweet go semi-viral suggesting that Mario Kart World is “missing too many features” for it to be worth the $80 price tag.
Similarly,a Twitter user called KirbyCheatFurbysaid that they were “expecting a lot more” from Mario Kart World to try and justify the $80 price tag, claiming the game has bad costume diversity, horrible item balancing, a disappointingly low number of tracks, and is missing key features like 200cc and custom items.
In fact, the only part of Mario Kart World that isn’t catching strays at the moment is its soundtrack,with one fan called Imtemzygoing as far as claiming the game is a “$50 soundtrack that also happens to have a $30 kart racer thrown in”. It’s definitely a disappointing start for Mario Kart World, and there are hopes that Nintendo will improve the title going forward, but right now, there’s little to justify parting with $80 for it.
