With 24 racers this time around, everyMario Kart Worldrace is utter chaos. If you’re not getting spammed by shells and other items, Lakitu is probably punishing you for going an inch off the track. It turns out that evenleading a raceorusing the start boostare actually not the best way to win races.
While Mario Kart World allows you to grind rails and drift around turns, it seems one player has figured out a better way to reach the finish line. Why drive when you’re able to fly? You can glide in the game if you drive off a ledge or ramp, but it seems someone has figured out an exploit that will simply let you fly to wherever you want.

In a video posted to Reddit,Icy-ConcentrationCshowed how they made Rosalina fly across the map while also performing as many tricks as they wanted. The kart started floating across Mario Kart World’s massive map without descending. They followed a set of steps to gain elevation, and after that, it seems the game simply allows them to float.
As can be seen in the video, Rosalina uses a mushroom to gain air on a quarter pipe ramp. While in the air, she uses a feather to gain even more elevation. After that, she simply starts floating in the air. It’s unclear whether it’s possible only on that specific spot, but from what we can see in the video, the player can’t control where the kart floats to after that. However, they can pull off unlimited tricks.
It’s also unclear if this exploit would work in actual races. The player has performed it in the free roam mode, but Lakitu will likely pluck you out of the air if you perform this in an actual race. It’s surprising that the devs missed something like this, but you’re able to expect Nintendo to get on it pretty soon.
Mario Kart World launched pretty recently, so you can expect more tactics and exploits to surface over time. Players have already noted that staying at the front of the pack is a bad idea until the last lap, as you’ll be targeted by everybody.
