Summary

As Kamek fans are well aware of,Mario Kart Worldhas left out several beloved characters from the playable roster, but there’s one that’s going to sting more than the rest.

One of the things thatNintendohas pushed the most withMario KartWorld isits massive and bizarre roster of racers, from mainstays like Mario and Rosalina to out-of-left-field (literally, in one case)characters like Cow, Goomba, and Wiggler. As awesome as all those strange little guys are, there are still a few noticeable absences.

Donkey Kong doing a trick in Mario Kart World.

There are a lot of smaller racers who are weirdly not in Mario Kart World, like R.O.B. and Petey Piranha, but there are also some massive absences who don’t really make any sense. You can probably guess where I’m going with this, but I am of course referring to Diddy Kong, who was nowhere to be seen before release.

Don’t Expect To See Diddy Kong In Mario Kart World

Donkey Kong’s Companion Has Been Left In The Cold Again

Still, with Nintendo recently showing off a new render of Diddy Kongandeven responding to a question about him(albeit very vaguely), there were some hopes that he was just hiding in the shadows until the full game. That isn’t the case, though, as several sites have now confirmed that Diddy Kong has been completely cut from the MKW roster.

As pointed out by Destructoid, Diddy Kong isn’t in Mario Kart World at all. Not only is he not a playable racer in the game, but he’s also not even an NPC who can be found around the game’s map like a few other characters that some expected to end up as costumes. Diddy Kong is just completely missing in action, just like we all suspected. Funky Kong also isn’t around, but that’s less of a big deal.

Diddy Kong was also left out of Mario Kart 8 at launch, andonly made his way into the game at the very end through its Booster Course packs. Let’s hope it’s not that long this time around.

Of course, this isn’t too much of a surprise considering he’s appeared nowhere in the marketing before Mario Kart World’s release, but it still is a shame now it’s outright confirmed. He could end up being added to the game later down the line, but no DLC plans have been announced for World so far, but it’s a bit of a pipe dream for now.
