Summary

There was never any doubt that theFinal FantasyxMagic: The Gatheringset was going to be massive. It combines one of the world’s most popular trading card games with arguably the world’s most popular RPG series, so its popularity was always guaranteed. Naturally, though, with such popularity, there were always going to be concerns about the available supply of the products.

Thankfully, ahead of its release date in the middle of June, Wizards of the Coast has moved to alleviate any concerns, confirming that the new set will break another record for the long-running TCG.

Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy Will Be Printed In Abundance

Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast had already confirmed that the Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy set is going to be “the best-selling set of all time on day one”, but the good news doesn’t stop there for both its creators and those looking to get their hands on products.

Despite having already sold out everywhere, during an event in Tokyo, Japan, Wizards of the Coast confirmed (via4gamer) that this new set will be “printed in the largest volume ever.”

The set’s executive producer, Zakir Gordon, said, “I understand that this is a very serious issue. What is most important to us is that players can obtain the products they need to play and enjoy them. Therefore, we are working on the acquisition environment. This set is currently being printed in the largest volume ever, and we will continue to make efforts after its release. We will continue to take serious measures regarding play products, including not only the standard card set but also the Commander game. Don’t worry.”

What is most important to us is that players can obtain the products they need to play and enjoy them.

Gordon also shared that the Final Fantasy set took around 50 percent longer to produce than the standard Magic: The Gathering expansions, due to the need to “accurately reproduce the IP”. Given that the setseemingly canonizes one of Final Fantasy 7’s most heated debates, this makes a lot of sense.

These statements are good news, so if you’ve missed out on some of your most wanted products, don’t rush to the secondary market yet, as more should be coming after release.
