On one hand, you have people claiming that the game would be more accessible, as the difficulty of soulslike can make them unplayable for some, while on the other, some argue that the punishing nature of soulslikes is the whole point, as you overcome tough bosses through practice and patience.
Despite the never-ending arguments, the vast majority of soulslikes these days tend to go without difficulty options, butLies of Pdeveloper Neowiz is now bucking that trend.Revealed by VGC earlier today, Lies of P will be getting difficulty optionswhen its big Overture DLC launches later this summer, and yes, you will be able to make the game easier.
Lies Of P: Overture DLC Is Adding Difficulty Options To The Base Game
According to the announcement, Lies of P: Overture and the base game will be getting two additional difficulty options when the DLC launches, those being “Butterfly’s Guidance” and “Awakened Puppet”. We can assume that the former will be the easier mode, while the latter will be harder, with the default difficulty option now called “Legendary Stalker”.
When asked about the sudden decision to add difficulty options to Lies of P, game director Jiwon Choi explained that it was done to try and attract a “wider audience” to the game, and that Neowiz is also apparently responding to “a lot of feedback from customers”.
“By making development adjustments and introducing these difficulty options, we can offer the experience to different types of players. This broadens the base.”
As for when these difficulty options will drop, we still don’t know exactly when Lies of P: Overture is launching. We know that it’s going to be this summer, and the recent release of previews seems to suggest it’ll be sooner rather than later, but we’re still waiting for a confirmed date.
