Who doesn’t love lighting things on fire? Firebugs can light things on fire with pretty much everything they use, from their gadget to the many different weapons they have the choice of wielding. If you’re looking to up your Firebug game and really become a master of the art of igniting your enemies, you’ve come to the right place.

A group of enemies ignite in Killing Floor 3.

Best Firebug Skills

This Firebug build is meant to bea very tank-like build, meaning it’s played at close range and is able to sustain heavy amounts of damage. On top of that, this build is going to be able to dish out plenty of damage of its own; in fact, some of its ability to stay alive is going to be based around dealing and spreading that damage around.

Reasoning

Firewall

Thisreduces the damage that you takefrom burning enemies, and is pivotal to our build. Prioritize causing burning on every enemy you possibly can.

Boom Out

Thisincreases the Molotov explosion radius. More enemies will be lit on fire, which means they’ll be dealing less damage to you.

Heat Therapy

Thisheals you each time you use Wildfire. On top of the positive effects of fire on the ground (which we’ll get into a few skills down) and of enemies that are lit on fire, the instant heal of this is a lifesaver.

Heat Exposure

Thisincreases the ease of lighting enemies on fire, and causes them to stay ignited for longer.

Speedy Exit

Wildfirewill give you a noticeable improvement in movement speed. This can be used to great effect both offensively and defensively.

Slow Cook

Thisincreases the size and negative effect accumulation that ground fires cause.

Thisincreases the length of time that a Molotov burns.

In The Public Eye

Thiscauses any enemy hit by this to attack you,and further decreases the damage that you takefor a short period.

Hotfoot

Killing enemies creates stacks of Red Zone, and Red Zone is going to slightly repair your armorat five stacks.

Hot Streak

Thisgives you gadget energy for killing enemies that are near you.

Explosive Reaction

Thisgives enemies a chance to explode when you kill them, dealing damage to nearby enemies and creating a ground fire effect.

Up In Flames

Thisincreases the Molotov radius even further with small explosionsthat branch off from the main explosion.

Thisallows you to revive yourself with Wildfireonce per match.

Best Firebug Weapons For This Build

For this Firebug build, the weapons aren’t going to be terribly complicated. For the most part, you’re just going to need things that are great at close range, and that ignite enemies quickly.

We’ll provide a couple of different options for a late-game weapon; both come with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Best Cheap Weapon For Early Game

For the early game, keep it simple. Thestarter weapon for the Firebug is fantastic: the IR-50 Brimstone deals good damage and ignites enemies(and the ground) quickly. It’s going to allow you to play into your build from the start, rather than having to survive without utilizing the important parts until later.

The same is going to be true for your secondary weapon. If you have extra cash, there’s nothing wrong with upgrading to a better version of the Pyre .357. But for the most part, you don’t need to get this upgraded.

Best Expensive Weapon For Late Game

For the late game, thereare a couple of really strong options.

Dragon’s Breath

This isa shotgun that ignites enemies. It deals great damage, especially with the secondary fire mode that fires two shots at a time. If you’re looking for pure damage potential, this is the weapon to go with.

Incinerator M7

This isa flamethrower, and it spreads flames to anything that you point it at, meaning you’re going to be getting those positive effects from flaming enemies and ground effects very easily. It does not deal as much damage as the Dragon’s Breath, but if you’re more worried about effect interactions than damage, this is your best bet.

Either way, both of these weapons set you up for a good time. The benefit of the Dragon’s Breath is that you’re able to take down those heavier enemies in a lot fewer shots, keeping them from harassing you for nearly as long.

If it came down to a forced decision, we would recommend the Dragon’s Breath if you’re playing solo or with just one or two other people, and the Incinerator M7 if you’re playing with a large group. The Incinerator makes it easier to confront very large groups of enemies, and in the case of so many allies, you’ll have less damage that you’re expected to be able to deal.
