Killing Floor 3can be a brutal game for anyone unfamiliar with the Killing Floor series, or for someone who isn’t accustomed to this kind of game to begin with. It throws a lot of enemies at you at the same time, and if you don’t know how to deal with it, you can fall to them quickly.

But once you’ve got your feet under you, you’ll be clearing waves of Zeds effortlessly. There are going to be a few things that you’ll need to keep in mind in the early going, and those things are going to become second nature once you’ve got a few runs under your belt.

There Is Always Something Behind You

When you’re just starting out, you’re not going to have any idea where all the Zeds can come from. This is going to be a massive problem, because for the most part, the answer is thatthey can come from anywhere.

So it’s good toalways assume that you have some Zeds coming up from behind you. If you’re wrong, no harm done. If you’re right, you’ll keep yourself from getting boxed in and beaten to death.

Max Out Your Armor

It’s a good idea tospend the money in-between rounds to max out your armor pretty quickly. You’ll have at least enough money to level up your armor once every round until it’s at the maximum level; this is going to reduce the damage that you take by a noticeable amount.

This is worth doing even at the cost of upgrading a weapon one round later. The starting weapons are going to be good enough to get the job done in the first few rounds.

Try A Variety Of Weapons

There are quite a few different weapons in Killing Floor 3; some of the secondary weapons are tied to specific specialists, butall the primary weapons can be purchased between rounds and used on any character.

It’s worthtrying out different weapons to see how they work. Some weapons outside your chosen specialization are going to still synergize well with your character, and you can make some interesting and creative builds by combining things that don’t seem like they’d go together.

Build Cheap Options For Weapons

There’s nothing wrong with building cool, expensive weapons for the last couple of rounds. But, you don’t want to be locked into them. Instead, build a few cheaper options that are still effective at certain thingsthat you can grab when you don’t have disposable income.

These cheap options can still save the day on a run where you’re in trouble, and play into your build, even if it’s in a little bit of a less impactful way.

Be Niche

This isnot a game where you need to make a build that acts as a jack-of-all-trades. Building a character for multiple different situations at the same time is going to leave you weaker than you would otherwise be than if you’d choose one thing, and make your build extremely good at that.

Much of Killing Floor 3 is maneuvering fights so that you’re in an ideal situation.Make a build that does exactly what you want it to do, and then figure out how to make that work; don’t make a build that tries to plan for every eventuality.

Respec Skills Often

Respeccingyour skill pointsis free, and can be done anytime you’re in the HQ. There are almost always multiple skill choices to choose from in every slot, andchanging just a couple of things can make for a build that functions very differently, for better or worse.

Tinker with your build often. Try out new things, and see how well they work. Oftentimes you’ll end up with something that’s ineffective, but sometimes you’ll come across build magic and come up with something you never would have thought of if you weren’t experimenting.

Shoot The Cameras

Most enemies reward you with different resources when you kill them, and those resources are needed to craft and upgrade weapon mods in the HQ. Those weapons mods are very impactful on custom weapons, and you’re going to need a lot of resources to build out your options.

There are cameras around every single map, anddestroying those cameras gives you resources that are impossible to get otherwise. ensure you’re taking those cameras down in the downtime; you’ll be happy you did, once you make it back to HQ.

The Boss Round Is Not The Most Difficult Round

There are exceptions to this rule, but in general, the final round, which is the boss round, is not the most difficult roundthat you’re going to have. Bosses can deal significant damage and take a lot of punishment, but they usually a more manageable situation than a group of enemies.

Theround right before the boss round is usually the round that’s actually the most difficult. This is where the game is going to send a ton of enemies at you, including more than a few of the most difficult of them. Make sure that you are prepared for this round before it hits, because going into this round unprepared can be a death sentence.
