Summary

Square Enixhas revealed a new multiplayer murder mystery game called Killer Inn that looks like a cross between Cluedo,Among Us, and the film Ready or Not.

As if this year hasn’t been busy enough already with all of the big reveals and releaseswe’ve had (including a whole new console from Nintendo!), it’s even busier tonight thanks to the yearlySummer Game Festshowcase. As ever, we had a ton of trailers and announcements made at the event, including some surprises.

One of the publishers that was confirmed to be at the event early on is Square Enix, which sparked a lot of excitement about what it might be showing. Fans instantly figured that eitherKingdom HeartsorFinal Fantasywould turn up at the event in some capacity, but the reveal was actually for something brand new.

Killer Inn Announced At Summer Game Fest

Lambs, Wolves, And Murder

During Summer Game Fest,Square Enix announced that its newest game is going to be a brand-new IP called Killer Inn, which sees players in an ancient and either playing as a Wolf or a Lamb. Wolves (the killers) have to try and blend in while slowly murdering the other players, while Lambs (the prey) have to uncover the killers to win the game.

Sheep aren’t allowed to kill or accuse other sheep, so you’ve got to be careful who you target and attempt to be sure.

Killed players leave behind bits of evidence when they die, which can help you piece together who the Wolves are and then properly deal with them, while also having their own unique abilities depending on which character they play as and their job. Of course, Wolves can also hide that evidence and lie to try and blend in for as long as possible.

Basically, it sounds like a combination of Cluedo and Among Us, which is quite an interesting idea to come fromSquare Enix, and not what any of us were expecting to see from them for Summer Game Fest. A closed beta onSteamfor Killer Inn will be coming soon, so a select few should find out what it’s like to play as Wolves and Lambs.
