Despitestruggling with performance issuesat launch,Wuchang: Fallen Feathersseems to havea dedicated player base. In fact, it’s so dedicated that some players attempted tofix these issues themselves. It seems that isn’t enough either, as the game has lost almost half its player base on Steam.

While this could be for many reasons, the performance issues are probably the main cause. But players have also been struggling with another aspect of the game – the boss fights. Wuchang boasts some hard-as-nails boss fights, given its Soulslike lineage. However, some players have been struggling so much with them that they’re calling them unfair.

Wuchang Fallen Feathers' Boss Fights Are Unfair, According To Some Players

“This game ruins its identity of build variety due to boss design,” says a post byBuffanosoon Reddit. According to them, the boss fights aren’t balanced in a way to give players a chance, with some attacks being impossible to dodge or block. They used theCommander Honglan boss fightas an example and even broke it down.

Firstly, the boss is able to hit you while you’re down. While this isn’t unusual in Soulslike games, Wuchang has a very long animation for the character to get up, leaving you open for a really long time. Next, they claimed that many boss fights do not give you an opening to take advantage of, and the bosses relentlessly attack you. This doesn’t allow the player to use the abilities they have at their disposal.

Third, the game is mostly balanced towards longswords and one-handed weapons, while those like the spear leave you open for too long. And lastly, the perfect dodge system is “clunky”, so even when the animation appears, you still get hit by the attack. They also said that Honglan’s double-air kick is impossible to dodge.

“Just frustrating that a game like this has incredible potential. Most of the bosses here are Consort Radahn BEFORE nerfs,” they concluded.

The comments section is filled with players who agree about the balance of these boss fights, especially Honglan. But as with any Soulslike, there were those who figured out the exact art of dealing with the boss and broke down exactly how players should prepare for it.
