Since its reveal nearly two months agoat aPlayStationState of Play, fighting game fans around the world have been extremely curious about what to expect withMarvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, the next big fighter from Arc System Works.
Fortunately,its trailer hinted at plenty of future roster additions, and over the weekend, a playable build was available to those attending Evo 2025,which is where we learned just how extra Doctor Doom’s win screen is going to be at launch.
If that wasn’t enough hype, then one of the best fighting game players of all-time, SonicFox, gave it their seal of approval on social media, writing, “Bruh Marvel Tokon IS THE ONE OMG.”
That’s some pretty high praise, and that much was echoed by another member of the FGC, Kane Blueriver,who lauded its presentation and comic vibes, among other highlights.
It Won’t Be Too Long Before We Get To Play Marvel Tokon For Ourselves
Thankfully, us non-attendees of Evo 2025 will be able to go hands-on with Marvel Tokon very soon. On Sunday,it was announced that the game would be receiving a closed beta that kicks off on September 5 and runs through Sept. 7.
Unfortunately, the beta is limited to just those onPlayStation 5, and there’s no guarantee that signing up will get you an entry. That said, if you do happen to get invited, you’ll be ableto test out the 64-player lobby that will feature Chibi-style characters similar to how Dragon Ball FighterZ worked, along with a tutorial.
By then, we’ll know for sure if it truly is “the one.” The wait can’t get any easier.
