A formerNaughty Dogdesigner’s LinkedIn profile has seemingly confirmed thatIntergalactic: The Heretic Prophetis going to have “RPG progression systems” of some kind.

There are plenty of massive and exciting games on the distant horizon, but one of the most interesting of them all has to be Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.Any game from Naughty Dog is almost guaranteed to be a banger, but Intergalactic seems like a big departure for the studio, and one that we barely know anything about.

Ever since the game’s reveal at The Game Awards 2024 last year, Naughty Dog has kept pretty quiet on what we can expect from Intergalactic. We know it’s going to be very different from the studio’s other games, but not too much else has been shared, with many of the details having to be found between the cracks.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Will Apparently Feature RPG Mechanics

What That Means Is Anyone’s Guess, Though

Which brings us to a recent discovery that was made byRedditor 22Seres and shared on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit. 22Seres shared what appears to be a LinkedIn profile from a former Naughty Dog designer, who worked at the studio between August 2022 and February 2024. We’ve verified that the post is real, although we won’t share the developer’s identity.

Beyond a brief mention of The Last of Us Onlinethat makes me want to cry, the LinkedIn profile also notes that the designer worked on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Specifically, they worked on some “RPG progression systems”, which is something we haven’t heard about since the game was revealed.

Considering how much Neil Druckmann has talked abouthow massive and unique Intergalactic is going to be, it does seem fitting that it might have RPG mechanics of some kind. Of course, the definition is very broad and could mean a number of things, from a simple skill tree to more advanced levelling up.

It’s worth remembering that MinnMax’s Ben Hanson previouslysuggested that Intergalactic has been compared to Elden Ring by those in the know. Very interesting indeed…

Although it seems like we’re going to be waiting a very long time until we see for ourselves what RPG systems Intergalactic actually has, it’s an interesting glimpse into what the game could end up being. Here’s hoping that the wait for more official information isn’t too long.
