This article includes spoilers for The Last of Us Part 2 and The Last of Us season two.
Summary
The Last of Usseason two comes to an end next week, and after that, we don’t know when we’ll be getting anything more from the series. Season three is likely at least two years away, and there don’t appear to be plans for a Part 3 on the video game front. However, some of those cast to play roles inNaughty Dog’s next game assumed that’s what they’d been brought back on board for.
Dexertospoke with Stephen A. Chang about all things TLOU andIntergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Chang played the role of Jesse inThe Last of Us Part 2and will be working with Naughty Dog again in Intergalactic. It’s unclear what Chang’s role will be in thePlayStationstudio’s next blockbuster, but his inclusion in the cast was confirmed via a photo of some of its characters posing together in the game’s first, and so far only, trailer.
Naughty Dog is being incredibly secretive when it comes to its next game. So much so that it didn’t even really tell cast members what they were signing up for. Chang revealed that he only saw the trailer (that he was technically in, remember) a week before the rest of us. He also noted that someone else working on the game asked if it was being kept under wraps because they had unknowingly been asked to work on The Last of Us Part 3.
I saw the trailer, maybe a week before they released it. I didn’t really know what to expect. I have a friend who’s working on the game too. She’s like ‘Is this Last of Us Part 3 that we’re doing?’ So we didn’t even really know what we were getting into.
Naughty Dog Doesn’t Want A Repeat Of Its Last Of Us Part 2 Leaks
So Much So That It’s Casting People Without Telling Them What They’re Being Cast For
Chang doesn’t mention who it is that thought they had been brought in to work on a The Last of Us threequel, but they must have been pretty confused to learn Chang was a part of the project. Abby shoots Jesse in the face, killing him instantly, and right in front of Ellie, when she finds them in the theater, a moment I’m bracing myself to experience all over again, as it seems likely that scene will be how season two ends next week.
Neil Druckmann continues to deny that Part 3 is happening, warning fans thatthey should be prepared for a world where it never happens. PlayStation recently released the “Complete Edition” of The Last of Us, a box set that includes the newest version of both games.Dubbing it complete has convinced some that Part 3 is never going to happen.
