Summary

One of the most reliableWarner Bros.gaming leakers has not-so-subtly hinted that the next game from NetherRealm Studios isInjustice 3, not anotherMortal Kombat.

Nearly two years ago,NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. threw fans a major curveball. While the studio has mostly been known for bouncing between Injustice and Mortal Kombat after a new release in each series, the pattern was completely broken for Mortal Kombat 1’s launch, which was the second MK in a row likely due to the success of Mortal Kombat 11.

Ever since Mortal Kombat 1 was announced,Injustice fans have wondered whether NetherRealm would ever get back to the seriesand give us the third entry we’ve been waiting so long for. It seems that time might finally be coming, as a reliable leaker has suggested thatthe third entry is being worked on now that Mortal Kombat 1 has finished up.

Injustice 3 Could Already Be In The Works

Mortal Kombat’s Earned A Little Break

As pointed out on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit by Redditor DrAwesomeX, one of themost reliable MultiVersus leakers, multiversusie, recently took to Twitter to randomly teasewhat might be next for NetherRealm. In a tweet, multiversusie said, “multiversus shutting down is an injustice, then doing it all again is another injustice, leaving me without any leaks is yet again another injustice”.

In case you haven’t noticed, multiversusie very obviously forced the use of Injustice three times in that tweet, beforecheekily confirming what the tease was about by simply tweeting “3”. It’s an unsubtle way of indicating that Injustice 3 is in the works at Warner Bros., and is seemingly what NetherRealm is up to next.

Interestingly,Warner Bros. recently said that Mortal Kombat is one of its biggest series that it wants to focus on, making it a bit of a surprise that NetherRealm isn’t just moving on to another entry.

Considering how much insider information and knowledge multiversusie had about MultiVersus(many of which was proven to be true before the game was killed off), it stands to reason that they know what Warner Bros. studios are up to. With that in mind, it’s easy to believe the tease and start getting your hopes up that Injustice 3 really is in development already.
