Saitama looking up at the sky with a big smile on his face in One Punch Man.

Genres

Action, Comedy

Kicking things off is the obligatory One Punch Man recommendation, as it is created by ONE (Tomohiro), who is also the creator of Mob Psycho 100. If you enjoy the look, humor, and broken protagonist aspects found in Mob, you will surely appreciate this as well.

While season two stumbles a bit here and there, it’s still a fun watch, but you won’t be getting Mob Psycho 100-levels of off-the-wall animation like you see in seasons two or three. Nonetheless, everything else checks out, and we still highly recommend it!

Naota Nandaba looking back at Mamimi Samejima with an annoyed expression on his face in FLCL.

Action, Comedy, Sci-Fi

FLCL is another story that focuses on middle-schoolers with unbelievable powers, making its premise very fun, creative, and exhilarating to watch unfold. If the experimental fantasy aspects of Mob Psycho 100 were up your alley, give FLCL a shot.

Just how everything escalates in this anime is fantastic, going from mundane activities to suddenly being thrust into saving the entire earth. Every moment is a joy to watch, and the action is also solid to boot. If you haven’t yet, please do yourself a favor and binge all of FLCL!

Gon smiling at the camera with a look of determination in Hunter x Hunter.

Action, Fantasy

Love the characters of Mob Psycho 100 and find yourself constantly rooting for Mob to achieve his goals? Well, Hunter x Hunter is very similar, as it has arguably the most lovable cast of characters in shonen and will have you rooting for Gon from start to finish.

Even if the powerscaling is for less intense than Mob’s, the action is still fierce and meaningful, sucking you in to each encounter and arc. Gon is a happy-go-lucky kid who just wants to find his dad, and everything that happens in between is nothing but greatness!

Drama, Mystery, Supernatural, Suspense

Maybe the creepy undertones of the spirits in Mob Psycho 100 were more your speed. If that’s the case, then you have to check out Paranoia Agent, as it is one of the weirdest, suspenseful, and experimental supernatural anime out there.

Paranoia Agent is also relatively short, consisting of only 13 episodes, making it a quick watchif you’re in the mood for a spooky anime. The mystery, atmosphere, and tension are solid throughout, making it a must-watch!

Ash Lynx standing in an alleyway with a serious expression on his face in Banana Fish.

Action, Drama, Suspense

Banana Fish features exceptionally well-written characters, a fascinating plot, and some of the best drama and suspense in anime, focusing on organized crime and the investigations into it, which lead to shootouts, devastation, and intense interactions.

Despite not having all that much in common genre-wise with Mob Psycho 100, Banana Fish’s character and action-packed plot make it a must-watch if you enjoy anime with a solid cast of characters, a solid plot from start to finish, and excellent action!

Koro-sensei holding a pistol in the front of the classroom in Assassination Classroom.

Looking for a unique premise with a broken main character that is often humorous and isn’t One Punch Man? Assassination Classroom is here to save the day, as it follows an alien dubbed Koro-sensei that has plans to blow up the Earth by March of the following year.

As such, the government tasks the students of the alien’s class with assassinating it, leading to some of the best moments you could ask for, which range from high-octane combatto incredibly funny, wholesome, and emotional. This show has it all and deserves your time!

Kusuo Saiki using his psychic abilities to save a kid’s balloon in Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

Comedy, School, Super Power

Disastrous Life of Saiki K is arguably the closest you will get to Mob Psycho 100, as it is another anime that follows a student with psychic powers, who refuses to use them as they do not want to attract any unwanted attention.

However, that’s easier said than done, as he often uses his powers for mundane things, which gains the attention of some fascinating characters. This show is more comedy-focused than Mob by a mile, but it’s still a fun watch if you love the more humorous and character-driven moments of the show!

Action, Comedy, Supernatural

Lastly, we have Dandadan, the hottest new anime on the block that crushes every episode in its first season. The characters all ooze with personality and charm, and the action is off the charts, showcasing some of the best battles in the genre.

If the stunning action sequences, lovable characters, weird plot, and sillyness of Mob Psycho 100 were a big selling point for you, then you must watch Dandadan if you haven’t already. It’s THAT good and will likely keep getting better from here on out!
