In case you missed it, the firstHunter x Huntergame to release on consoles in well over a decade is officially out.Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impactis out now onPlayStation 5andNintendo Switch, and while mostanimevideo game fans are out enjoying the game, the same can’t be said for those living in Australia.

That’s because, after being refused classification back in December, the game was seemingly never resubmitted for another consideration, effectively leaving the game banned in a regionwhere reportedly 91 percent of households have a gaming-related device.

Hunter x Hunter Will Seemingly Remain Banned Unless Some Things Are Cut

Over on the Australian government’s rating classification board, the country’s equivalent to PEGI and ESRB, Nen x Impact continues to bear the mark of “Refused Classification” or RC, meaning the game is essentially banned in the region.

It was classified back in November 2024, and has not had its status change in the months since, even as the game inched closer and closer to release. Unfortunately, it still isn’t clear all these months later as to why the game was even refused to begin with, especially now thatit’s been revealed that the game’s story mode is about an hour, largely skipping a lot of the context and story beats of the actual series.

On Twitter, where Arc System Works, the publisher behind the game, celebrated its release, those living in Australia called on the publisher to find a way to resubmit it.

“Please fix this for Australia. Resubmit it if possible. I want to play it, but I can’t,” one user wrote in response.

Given how many months both developer and publisher had to resubmit the game in hopes of getting it passed, it seems unlikely that the game will end up being playable there. It’s a rather unfortunate situation for fans who simply want to support their favorite anime, but can’t.
