Minecraft’s third Golem, the Copper Golem, has a very interesting position as a passive mob that has a direct function that’s different from most other mobs. That function isn’t as food, defense, or any kind of resource; that function is entirely predicated upon organization.

Copper Golems will take items out of Copper Chests and distribute them into regular chests that contain the same kind of item. These Golems can save you a lot of time when it comes to keeping your storage area organized, and while things similar to this have been possible in the past, this is a much simpler method.

Copper Golems work in a confined glass setup in Minecraft.

The Copper Golem update is currently in the preview build of Minecraft, and certain details may change upon full release.

How To Craft A Copper Golem

Copper Golems arecreated by placing a carved pumpkin on top of a copper block; all in all, this costs nine Copper and one Pumpkin.

You are likely going to want or need more than one Copper Golem for a proper resource organization system, but exactly how many you need is going to depend entirely on your setup.

This is going tocreate both a Copper Golem and a Copper Chest. Copper Chests are going to be necessary for a Copper Golem setup; more of these can either be created by making more Copper Golems, or by surrounding a chest with Copper in a crafting bench.

How To Use A Copper Golem

Copper Golemstake items from a nearby Copper Chest, and distribute them into nearby regular Chests. They will distribute the items that they grab from Copper Chests into regular Chests that have the same item type in it; if that regular chest has a different item in it, the Copper Golem will skip over the chest and check the next one.

If the Chest is empty, the Copper Golem will place that item in the empty Chest.

They do not have any memory of where they placed items, so if they grab the same item type and begin to check chests again, they may place that same item type in a different empty chest, if they happen upon one first.
