How To Upgrade Raidou’s Weapon
Beginning in the second act of Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, Raidou will see a brief scene with Narumi and Tae Asakura back at the Agency’s headquarters before being sent out to begin the second chapter of the game. Before you get too far, though, Gouto tells you a letter has arrived from Yatagarasu. This letter offers several things:
Gouto highlights Sword Alchemy, so you’d be wise to go to the Goumaden before leaving for go speak to the owner of Ryugu in Ginza-cho. Victor gives a preamble and offers more advice if you need, but suggests you get straight infofusing new weapons for Raidouin the Goumaden.
You’ll have noticed throughout the first chapter that you’ve been collectingpurple fusion materialsas rewards during battle, things that might not have made a ton of sense quite yet. Hopefully you did a good amount of stocking up, since you’ll need plenty of unique fusion materials to make the most powerful weapons inRaidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army.
Victor offers anupgrade tree for swords, spears, and battle axes, and you’ll notice upon checking the stats of each one thatdifferent weapon categories focus on raising different statswhen fused and given to Raidou during battle. Not only that, but you’ll be able to learnnew sword skillswhen fusing new weapons, adding an extra layer into your decisions.
There’s no right or wrong answer for which weapon class is objectively best for Raidou, but it’s always wise todecide which stat increases are most meaningful for your playstylewhen upgrading Raidou’s weapon at the Goumaden. If you’re finding yourself low on HP more often than not, consider weapons that increase Vitality over offensive stats like Strength or Magic.
When a weapon offers a new skill, you’ll be shown this new ability and allowed to reconfigure Raidou’s load-out before going back to the Goumaden as well.
It’s important to note, though, that you’ll need toprogressively unlock each weapon to access the weapons past themon Victor’s progression. For example, you can’t fuse the second sword, the Kotetsu, without having fused the first sword, Bizen-Osafune, since you’llneed the previous weapon as an upgrade materialin the fusion process.
The boosts to your stats, though, are cumulative. Using the same weapons as an example, the Kotetsu has two Magic stat points an one Luck, while the Bizen-Osafune only has one Magic stat point with the same Luck. Upgrading to the Kotetsu doesn’t add two Magic points to this existing stat for a total of three; you’ll simply increasetoplus-two Magic from plus-one.
