There are only so many things to aim for inTamagotchi Plaza. That’s by design, mind you; the game has a straightforward approach to progress, and similarly straightforward ways to achieve your goals. Nevertheless, much like the lack of tutorials for the many minigames, Tamagotchi Plaza does not immediately explainhowto go about getting from Point A to Point B.
The answer? Upgrade your shops. That’s the main aim in this game, which isn’t to say there aren’t others, but you’ll be coming back to this technique time and again. You’ve got to do a few things for each upgrade, but the mechanic itself doesn’t really change. Here’s what’s what.
Step One: Perform Tasks Satisfactorily
Upgrading your shops in Tamagotchi Plaza is a three-step process, the first of which is the most time-consuming. It also happens to be the ultimate goal ofeveryminigame, however, so you’ll stumble through it in due time.
Simply put,you need to be doing well at the minigames. Well enough to getall three smiley faceswhen your work is judged at the end of a task.
Tamagotchi Plaza always assigns one of four scores for its minigames: zero smileys, one smiley, two smileys, or the veritable holy grail of happiness, three smileys. Broadly speaking, zero smileys means you failed in full, three smileys means you aced it, and if you get one or two, you got certain bits wrong here and there.
Once you’ve gotten the three-smiley resulta fixed number of times, you’ll hit step two. The exact number seems tovary by minigame, and increase with each rank. The minigames also grow more challenging over time.
It may still be beneficial to get two-smiley results, as thatcouldcontribute (albeit to a smaller extent) to rank-ups. I’m honestly not 100 percent sure yet. But I don’t think that’s the case. Just something to bear in mind on the off-chance you hit step two via two-smiley performances.
Step Two: Do Similarly Well For Prince Tamahiko
After you have achieved the set number of three-smiley results for each minigame (and each rank within them),Prince Tamahiko will visit the shopwhile you’re working. He’ll be another customer, essentially, ashe will make a request of his own.
As with all other customers, you will get between zero and three smileysupon completion of the task he has assigned to you.You must get three smileys to progress to step three, and if you fail to do so,he’ll come back soon enough. There’s no “game over” here, of course.
Step Three: Pay To Win
Nail Prince Tamahiko’s task, and a quick scene will trigger whereyou’re given the chance to pay Rudouchi to upgrade the shop.
As with other steps here, you’re not in trouble if you don’t immediately cough over the cash;you can do this whenever you want going forward. You just can’t pay to progress more than one rank at a time, since it’ll all reset once you’ve made the currently-available upgrade.
If you’ve found a particular minigame dreadfully simplistic, give it another chance once you’ve gotten an upgrade or two under your belt for its shop.More items become available, and in some cases, additional mechanics are addedto the minigame itself.
What’s more, your shops will look increasingly stylish, and that’s part of Tamagotchi Plaza’s true charm - making the titular plaza sparkle and shine.
