Death Stranding 2: On The Beachis quite different from its first counterpart since it directly throws you in the middle of all the action. You start the game with a couple of gun blueprints already unlocked, and you’ll constantly run into enemies while completing your orders, making it important to get used to your tools and weapons.

While your play style largely stays the same in the early game, you can diversify it a lot more as you unlock more items. One of the most important items in this game is the Tranq Snipe Rifle, but there’s a chance that you might completely miss the quest to unlock it.

How To Get The Tranq Sniper Rifle Quest

Before you even think about getting the Tranq Sniper Rifle quest, you’ll have to progress quite far in the main story. When you first start Death Stranding 2, you’ll be asked to connect Mexico to the Chiral Network, which will already shave four to five hours of your playtime. This can be considered the prologue of the game.

The main gameplay starts after you connect Mexico and return to your base. The cutscenes here will lead you to Australia, and The Government’s Base will be your first main terminal here. Once you activate this terminal, you can take a sub-order for the Lone Commander, which will unlock the Tranq Sniper Rifle at the end.

How To Reach The Lone Commander

When you take up the order to deliver the dismantled rifle to the Lone Commander, you’ll also get introduced to Breakable Cargo. This cargo is very susceptible to damage, andeven when its container isn’t damaged, it can lose a ton of health with just a small hit. This makes it highly important to deal with this order strategically.

Unlike other orders, you can’t simply load this on your back and walk right up to the Lone Commander. Instead, you’ll first have to make proper preparations and follow a specific path. Here’severything you should preparebefore leaving:

Death Stranding 2 On The Beach retrieving Mementos for Lone Comander.

The main reason for the high amount of Blood Grenades are theupgraded BTs that you’ll meetduring this delivery.

These BTs can not only see you directly, but also take two to three hits from your Blood Grenadesto go down.

Once you have all the items, you’re able to follow this path to reach the Lone Commander easily:

While the directions might sound simple, the actual journey will be anything but that. Once you create a Timefall Shelter at the edge of the network, it’s recommended to first leave your cargo, or at least the breakable cargo that you have to deliver here. This is mainly because there will be a lot of BTs on your path forward, and you don’t want to attack them when you have breakable cargo.

Once your cargo is in a safe location, take all the Blood Grenades and either the Assault Rifle or the Bola Gunwith you. Move forward in the territory on the path mentioned above and keep a lookout for your scanner, asit’ll tell you the location of BTs. Whenever you see a giant BT in your path, attack it with Blood Grenades.

It’s important to use your Blood Grenades instead of the Assault Rifle firstas the latter can attract other BTs' attention.

If you have Blood Grenades level two, there’s a specific way to defeat a BT in two hits. Essentially, you’ll have to place the grenade between you and the BT. Once it gets hit, it’ll aggro towards you. As it moves forward, it needs to pass through the vapors from the Blood Grenade to take a bit more damage.

When you do this with both your grenades, the BT will take enough damage to get defeated. Repeat this process as you move forward on your path, and defeat every BT you can until you reach near the Lone Commander location. Once the path is clear, you can head back and bring the cargo with you.

You can find various other Lone Commander cargo on your path, butthese are usually guarded by even more BTs.

If you’re confident and have some more Blood Grenades left, you can attempt to retrieve these on the way.

How To Retrieve Lone Commander’s Mementos

Once you deliver the rifle to the Lone Commander, he’ll ask you to do another delivery before he agrees to join the Chiral Network. This task will be torecover his Mementos from a region a little to the northeast of his location. This cargo isn’t breakable, but the container itself is found in a tar pit.

Before setting out, it’s highly recommended to have another two Blood Grenades level two (three if level one) and a Container Repair Sprayin your inventory. With these, you’re able to easily deal with the BTs in your path and safely recover the container back to him. This will bring him into the network and give you the Tranq Sniper Rifle blueprint.

you may also have ananchor in your inventory for this deliverysince it’ll make it easier to reach the Mementos.
